What A Man Says
Why are you such a coward?
Have you ever stopped and wondered why you are not able to do the things you know in your heart are right? When you were younger you may have had a vision of how the world ought to be and determined that when you grew up you would fix everything that was wrong in the world. As you grew, however, instead of becoming that strong pillar of goodness, you found yourself becoming more and more cowardly. ‘Now wait’ you say. ‘I have never been forced into a situation that would prove if I was a coward or not’, but you have. Webster’s defines ‘cowardly’ as ‘afraid in a way that makes you unable to do what is right or expected’.
Unfortunately my friend, that definition defines every one of us to some degree or another. God has written His law on our heart and there is something that is expected or required of us. You may still be arguing that you are a good person and that you try to do good or you may be on the other side of the spectrum and see yourself as worthless and have no desire to do good. Either way when viewed from the eyes of God we are cowards.
He has desired for us to be His standard bearers. Ephesians. 3:10b (KJV) say, “…to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known, by the church, the manifold wisdom of God''. Not only are we to make known the way of God to the heavenly realms, but also to those around us! So many times we blame others and pass the buck for the responsibilities of the issues we see around us. Every home is either directly affected or in close proximity to the damage of drugs, sexual perversion, habitual lying, robbery, etc…. We in our own homes have let the standard fall low and that's just our human standard. God’s standard is so much higher than our standard. We say ‘they make their own decisions’, when we talk about the poor decisions are kids make. That is true, every person has the gift of free will but the responsibility is still on us to bring them up. It’s not the schools and daycares or the boss or coaches but it was and still is ours.
