What A Man Says
If you are anything like me then that means that you are a planner. You like to think about the future and the things that are going to be taking place and put together plans for how you believe they need to play out. I have even found myself putting together plans for things that may not even happen just because I want to be prepared in case they do. It can be exciting to think about the things that are going to happen and the possibilities of what may come, but we need to always remember that as exciting as thinking about what the future may hold, God has a plan for us in the very moment we are living in.
What does that mean when we say “in the very moment we live in''? I believe that it is actually pretty simple. As you are reading this right now and as you go throughout your day, you experience a variety of things and see a variety of people. As you experience these things and meet these people you are living in the moments of each day. What often happens is that we begin to think about the things that are going to be happening in the future while we are going through these moment by moment situations. There is nothing wrong about thinking ahead and planning, but what we must also do is remain in the moment. There may be a person who God has placed beside you who needs encouragement and help. There may be a situation in which God is allowing you to experience so that you can take action. However, if we are so focused on planning for the future and what may happen tomorrow, next week, or next year, we may completely miss the simple task God has given for us to live out right now in the moment.
As you go through the rest of today and go forward into tomorrow, remember to pay attention to the things that are going on around you. Take notice of the people who are around you and as you go through these situations and when you feel the leading of the Lord to do something or to say something, obey! When we truly live in the moment and seek the direction of the Lord we will find that He will lead us and guide us not only for the future and the long term plan, but also in the small detail within the moments that we live in.
