What A Man Says
As I think back upon my life and see the changes that have taken place as I have grown closer to Christ, I can say with certainty that I am no longer the person that I once was. There was a time in my life when I was living in total rebellion to the Lord, but after I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior I can say that I was changed in an instant. Many of my friends immediately saw the change because my thoughts, my behaviors, and my words all changed. Over the course of many years, the Holy Spirit continued to work in my life changing me. There have been many things that I have done wrong and continue to do wrong. But there is still one thing that is certain, I am a different person than I was before I knew Him.
The Bible tells us that we are a chosen people. God chose us to be His people and that told us that He would be our God. The Bible tells us that we are a royal priesthood. In ancient times, the priests were the ones who we able to offer sacrifices and serve in the temple. The high priest was the only one who, on one day each year, could enter into the presence of God. But not only can we be in the presence of God, but because of the work of Jesus, God’s presence actually lives within us. We are a Holy nation and a peculiar people. Though we live on the earth and we may be citizens of a nation here on earth, the reality is that when we accept Christ, we become citizens of heaven and Jesus becomes our King. We are peculiar because we become different. Just as in my own life, when Christ begins His work in our lives, people begin to take notice. They take notice because what they begin to see is something different than they can see in the world. They start to see a person who has peace in the struggle, joy in the difficulties, and hope when there seems to be no hope.
What is one of the primary things that we have been called to do then? How are we to respond to this wonderful calling and this wonderful gift? The Bible tells us that we are to praise Him, the Lord our God, for what He has done in our lives. We are to give Him the glory for the changes that have taken place. When people begin to ask us what has changed, when people begin to ask us what is different in our lives, we respond by telling that we have meet Jesus Christ and He has forgiven us of our sins and changed us from glory to glory and because of Him we will never the same person that we once were. We are to tell them that we were once living in darkness and without hope, but Jesus brought us into the light and we now live in hope every day because we know that we will be with Him in paradise for all eternity.
Today, I want to encourage you that you have been chosen, you are a royal priest, you are a part of a Holy nation, and you are different because of Jesus. Never allow the lies and the mocking of the enemy to discourage you or cause you to doubt what God has already shown to you and done in your lives. It is Jesus who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords and all authority and power has been placed in Him. You have no need to fear because you have been chosen! Amen!!
