Psalms 145:18-19, English Standard Version
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.”

Years ago my wife and I switched to a budget cell phone company in order to save money on our cell phone service. For several years it was a great solution. The service was not quite as good as the big name brand services but it still worked ok. About six months ago, the company we were with was bought out by a larger company. Within only a few weeks the service began to get worse. Eventually this put my wife and I in a position in which we were having a hard time even being able to communicate with all the people we were working with. One day, we finally had enough and went to get new service and new phones. After going through a lot of frustration, we finally have reliable phones on a reliable network.

As I was going through this process and dealing with the frustration of it, I began to think about how much importance there is in staying in communication with the people God has placed around me; and yet, I had to ask myself if I placed that same level of importance on communication with the Lord? The reality is, I can talk to the Lord whenever I want. He is always there with me and He is always ready to talk with me. In fact, He desires to talk with me and He wants me to come to Him more and more. So often though, I will allow other things in my life and even other relationships to take priority over my relationship with God my Father.

God tells us clearly that when we call on Him He will answer. When we cry out to the Lord He will hear our cries and save us. My question for you today is simple: do you seek to call upon the Lord with the same desire that you seek to communicate with those around you? Is your heart to hear from Him and to do the things that He has called you to do with your life? Or have you come to a place where you are so wrapped up with the things of this world that you haven’t called on Him in a long time? If that is you, then today is the day. Don’t wait any longer. Call on Him and share your burdens. Call on Him and share the struggles that you are facing. Call on Him and seek to understand the calling He has upon your life. When He answers, don’t hesitate to step out in faith and move forward. He will be with you every step of the way!!
