What A Man Says
If there is one thing that we can see in today's world, it is that there seems to be more potential distractions than ever before. All we have to do is take a walk through a town or city and we will see how many people are so distracted that they are not even experiencing the things that are going on around them.
I remember being at an event where there was an amazing performance. The whole time I kept my eyes and ears glued to the stage, desiring to take in as much as possible. About half way through the performance I noticed a person a couple of rows in front of me holding their phone high in the air taking a video of the performance. As the performance went on I began to realize that this person was recording the entire event and was never taking their eyes off of the phone screen. I was amazed and have never forgotten this. Here was a person who had gone to see this performance live. Yet, they never actually saw any of it. They watched it through a five inch cell phone screen even though it was happening right in front of them. They could have saved the time and money and just stayed home and watched a video.
This started making me think about how I live my own life. Do I truly see the things that are right in front of me? Do I truly engage with them or am I just off in my own world, not paying attention to anything that is actually going on around me? I believe without any doubt that God places us right where He wants us to be. I believe that He places others around us as well and so often we are there to speak life into someone else, or also so that someone else can speak life into us. Do we pay attention to these opportunities and look for them as we go through the day? Do we seek what God has for us in the moment? Or are we so focused on the things that can so easily distract that we miss the thing that God has placed right in front of us? Today, I ask you to examine your own life…. Are you paying attention to what is in front of you?
