What A Man Says
The book of Ephesians has so much to teach us. It gives us a lot of instructions on how to we are to treat each other and love each other. It also helps us to understand how much we can hurt other people when we do not treat them in the way that God has instructed us to. I believe we have all been in that position, when we have been deeply hurt by someone. Experiencing that deep hurt is something that no one enjoys. But did you know that when we treat other people poorly we are not just making them sad, we are also grieving the Lord as well?
Think about it, as a parent of multiple children, there are few things harder to see than watching one of my kids dealing with pain. This is true of not just physical pain, but emotional pain as well. One of the few things that is harder than seeing one child be hurt, is when they have been hurt by one of the siblings. Now, not only do you have one child who has been hurt, you have another child who you need to discipling, and you also see that the relationship between your two children has been damaged. As a parent I will say that seeing this happen truly grieves my heart. My desire is to see my children loving each other, encouraging each other, and working together in a healthy relationship.
With that being said, should it come as any surprise that when we treat our brothers and sisters in Christ poorly and hurt each other, God also grieves. He sees His own children fighting and quarreling and doing hurtful and negative things to each other and He is saddened. His desire is to see His children, His family, working together and enjoying the relationships that they have with each other. The question I have for you today is this, have you been hurt by another believer? There are so many of us who have been hurt by others and we are called to forgive just as the Lord has forgiven us. Is it also possible that you have hurt another believer? So many of us have caused hurt to others, if that is true then we are called to repent and turn from our wicked ways.
The time is now, we need to examine our hearts and make the decision that we want to please the Lord rather than grieve His Spirit. Seek Him and ask Him to help you in this process and He will be faithful to respond to your cry for help.
