What A Man Says
Have you ever noticed how everything that the world says will make you feel better and more complete actually does the exact opposite? Think about it for a second. How about drinking alcohol? It promises a good time and a good feeling, but afterward nothing has changed except you are left with one or more of the many negative potential consequences. The same thing could be said for drugs. They will do nothing to change your circumstances, but instead will make your circumstances more severe. How about sex? God created sex and intended it to be a beautiful thing. When done in a Biblical marriage between a man and a women, it is a beautiful thing; however, when we begin to view sex as something only to make us feel good, just like all other sin, the end result will bring us far more sadness then we had before.
The verse for today tells us that the wages of sin is death. Death is the ultimate consequence of sin and is a consequence that can never be escaped by anything that we do. Sin not only leads to death, but it also immediately brings other negative consequences into our life. When we are actively engaged in sinful behaviors, we will experience loneliness, sadness, guilt, shame, and eventually full depression. This is not just a theory. It is a fact that anyone who has pursued these things will tell you is true. Yet, every single day, more and more people seek to find the happiness they want in life by engaging in sinful activities. You would think that at some point people would look at the life of others who have already engaged in sin before them and learn from them, yet they rarely do. They have to experience it for themselves before they will believe the truth.
If you are reading this today and are engaging in sin and starting to realize that it is not bringing you what you thought it would, then I have something you need to hear. All the things that you have desired your whole life... to be loved, to be forgiven, to be accepted... are found in only one person, Jesus Christ. If you simply come to Him today, ask Him to forgive you and come into your life and change it, He will absolutely respond. You will start to experience a radical change in your life that is magnitudes better than any drug or vice that this world has to offer. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and, if you will come to Him, you will experience a life that is beyond anything that you could ever ask for or imagine. So the decision is up to you. Will you continue to seek the comfort of this world, which will only lead to more suffering, or will you seek the One who can change your life going forward and bring the joy you have always desired?
