Matthew 10:42, NIV
"And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward."
A team of nine volunteers gathered to sort through 101 hand made scarves (made by volunteers throughout the year), a selection of hats and gloves, lip balm, hot chocolate packets, and over 300 handmade cookies. With these items they were able to create 101 gifts bags and another 107 cookie bags. After these bags were assembled, volunteers then prayed and broke out into different small groups and through the leading of the Holy Spirit were led to go to different locations in and around Salem, Lisbon, and Leetonia. Once they arrived they then handed out these gift bags to the people who the Lord connected them with. Some went into stores, others went to laundromats, hospitals, libraries, and other simply walked along the streets. As each person and team followed the leading of the Lord we saw the Lord do some amazing things! Below you can read some of the testimonies from this blessed event...
"We had many specific moments as we went through the mission. What was amazing was when we were in the laundromat and seeing al the people that we could help bless during Christmas time." - Barbara
"The perfect family walked out of Dollar General for our last blessing....a mother, a boy, and a girl. The girl had told her mom before we met them she wanted a new scarf and she got a white one, the boy got a rusty red one, and mom got a green headband. And they got the last two bags of cookies. They were from Alliance. We also had a number of people at the laundromat that were very appreciative. One family was a mom with two children and I had had her daughter (2nd grade) in class on Thursday. One lady was 75 years old and said no one visits her at Christmas so she doesn't decorate. She said, "God Bless You" several times. At Aldi's, Barbara saw a friend whose son has cancer and she got to encourage her. Another lady said she was going through chemo. Some people gave us hugs." - Wendy
"We met one lady who was going to visit someone at the hospital. She said she was going to pass the cookies and gift bag along to her friend in the hospital. She was super excited to get to witness to her friend!" - Michelle
"It was a privilege to go out and bless others. The Holy Spirit definitely ordered our steps and we were blessed in returned!" - Kathy
"We pulled up to the hospital parking lot and I saw an elderly couple walking towards their car, and I had a feeling that they are why we were there. They looked agitated and distressed. So we went to talk to them, with a bag and cookies in our hands.. they looked very pleased that we stopped to talk to them and we're so excited about the packages we gave them. We asked if there's anything we can pray for them about, and They had just finished doing an MRI for the husband to find out if he has cancer. They were both emotional and the wife said that they are hanging on to the word that she felt God gave her that he would be healed. So we prayed in agreement with them about that. they were very emotional and very thankful, with tears in their eyes. Although we may never see them again, I believe that he was healed. That morning God had given the wife a word that her husband would be healed, & Jesus said go and touch and heal." - Dorcas
"My group went into a hair salon that had probably 10 ladies in it. When started to hand out the gift bags and cookies and they were all so excited and started saying how much they liked the scarves. Their excitement and thankfulness really touched me." - Jake
"We went into a local café and I found a young girl working behind the counter with brown hair, multiple ear piercings, and a nose ring. I gave her the scarf, cookies, and also $20 which someone had donated to give to someone in need. When I told her that God described her to me and that He wanted her to know that "He sees her and loves her" she was moved to tears. She came out from behind the counter and gave me a big hug. When I asked her if I could pray with her about anything she said no but that I just answered a lot of questions for her. I briefly shared that God is in fact very real and He speaks through the Holy Spirit to us. She was smiling from ear to ear and agreed with me." - Elana
"One young man who we gave a hand made scarf to was so taken back that he actually had tears in his eyes. He kept asking if we had truly made this for him. Seeing his reaction and knowing that he had felt both loved and worthy to be loved was a very special moment." - Christopher
"I handed a scarf to a women in a salon and told her that she was loved, worthy, and valuable. As she held the scarf and heard what I told her she began to cry and wanted to give me hug. She didn't even know what to say, but seeing her response and knowing she had experienced the love of God truly touched my heart." - Coria
