Keepers of The Home
The Word of God is so contrary to the ways of the world around us which seek revenge, look out for themselves, and burn with envy, jealousy, and hatred. As God’s people we are to be set apart from all of that, truly showing ourselves to be foreigners in a strange land. I can honestly tell you that more often than not, I feel like a stranger in this world.
When our flesh rises up against our spirit to cause war with others in our hearts or even outwardly, we are to cast our thoughts and actions down and submit them to Christ as we are taught in God’s Word--
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:5, KJV)
We are told that in God we have life abundantly. That abundant life only comes through submitting to God’s ways instead of our own. We only find destruction and sorrow living life our own way. Why not seek the one who made everything on how we should live, move and have our being? Oh but if it were only that easy. The battle within our flesh is a very real one and can feel overwhelming at times when we lose sight of our identity in Christ. When we know who we are and who He has created us to be, and the power that is ours through Christ Jesus, then we are able to stand up boldly against the lies of our flesh and the enemy and have victory.
Someone once shared with me what they thought the letters of the Bible stood for — Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. It would behoove us all greatly to know the Word of God inside and out so that we can overcome the one who is in the World. Many of us are well acquainted with the scripture, “Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4, KJV) But how can He be in us if we don’t have fellowship with Him through prayer, the Holy Spirit and reading His word?
Dear sister, worry, strife, jealousy, and hatred are all products of this world. It is God who helps us walk in peace, joy, trust and love. Lean in to the truth of God today, surrender the lie that you’re not good enough or strong enough and allow God who loves you so deeply to take over areas of your life you have been holding on to. I promise He will show Himself faithful.
“Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh unto you.” (James 4:8, KJV)
