Keepers of The Home
Faith pleases the Lord.
Recently we were reading in the book of Numbers chapter 14 as a family. It fascinated me to see how much the Lord grieved over the people’s unbelief. Here He was showing them the land he had for them, flowing with milk and honey and the majority of the spies cowered in fear. Not just a little fear either, they actually attempted to stone Caleb and Joshua as they tried to persuade the people to believe that God was indeed wanting to give them this marvelous land and blessing.
Dear wife and mother, don’t you know that every promise of the Lords is yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20)!? When are you going to act on the promises of God and take the “Promised Land” He has for you? The good Lord is a wonderful Father who longs to give HIs children good gifts (Matthew 7:11) but to His stubborn, unbelieving children He will give them what their murmuring lips speak of.
The people of Israel had provoked God ten times up to this point in scripture. It pleased Him still to bring them quickly into the promised land, but because of their final murmurings and unbelief of His promises, after all the miracles they had already seen Him perform, they were left to die in the wilderness and remain another forty years unnecessarily.
God made it a point to tell them that what they had declared with their lips (that they should just die in the wilderness) He would surely bring to pass: “Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you…” (Numbers 14:28, KJV)
Our words have power to deliver us or condemn us. What are you speaking over your marriage and family? What promises are you believing? Is God good and true or is He a liar? These are the things you must settle in your heart today. This story in the book of Numbers is here for our example. The same God who did not tolerate their unbelief and murmuring will not tolerate ours. But the same is also true of God today. He rewards those who do have faith in His promises!
God help us to guard our heart and lips before you. Declaring, speaking and hoping for you to move on our behalf always. Restoring all that has been lost and bringing us into a glorious land filled with milk and honey.
“But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him and hath followed me fully, will I bring into the land where into he went; and his seed shall possess it.” (Number 14:24, KJV)
