Proverbs 22:6, KJV
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

I have been aware of the incredible role parenting has in a child’s life since the very beginning. It is a fact that when we disciple our children in the Lord they become some of our best rewards this life has to offer. To watch our children grow and mature, honoring the Lord and others is such a precious gift from God. The other day a friend of mine shared a song by Bethany Dillon that echoed my sentiments exactly. I would like to share the lyrics of her song with you here today and encourage you to go look it up so that you can hear her lovely voice sing it and you can join her in that song over your own children. The song it titled, “You’re The Best Song I’ll Ever Write” and goes like this--

Good morning
You and the sun are up before I'm ready
But ready or not, you need me
So here I am

I'm learning that in the long hard days
There is beauty
Do you know my favorite place to see it
It's when I look at you

And though I'm tired now
You're worth every sleepless night
You're worth it all, cause I know...

You're the best song I'll ever write
And we're humming and dancing through the years together
You're the best song I'll ever write
And I pray you'll hear Jesus in it when you're older

I remember when you were just a heartbeat that I heard
and now our eyes meet
Forever is not enough to love you

Ooohhh...

Every prayer for you is like a seed in the ground
Every tear I cry is like rain
And in its due season
I pray a harvest will be found
Your heart and mouth confessing Jesus' name
Your heart and mouth confessing Jesus' name

The first time I heard this song it took me over an hour to really soak it in with all of the chaos of our mornings, but I just blasted it on repeat. Then I sang it with tears streaming down my face, dancing and holding some of my children as they walked past. Motherhood is beautiful, but oh so very demanding. I am here to tell you that God will honor your efforts and raise up a mighty army for Him in this earth if you will just remain faithful. God bless you fellow mama.
