Keepers of The Home
The very first article I ever wrote for the Fruitful Women Magazine was on this topic of the beginning of wisdom. Many of us are familiar with Proverbs 9:10 which says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” But do we know how to apply in today’s world and how important it still is to us as believers?
I begin by asking you this question, what good are our worldly studies if they are not followed through in the fear of the Lord? How beneficial is it for a doctor, scientist, or scholar of any kind to learn all that they can in their field of study, and yet not know the decrees and commands of the Lord who created them? Would they not be more likely to misuse the “information” they gained from school to mans harm and detriment?
Every decision we make comes from our world view. If our world view is not based on the truth of the Bible, it is based out of mans corrupt ways. Do not be deceived, any light you will find in this world comes from those who walk in the light of God. In the very same way, all of the darkness we see around us comes from the great deceiver himself, satan.
If our children grow up only being saturated with “information” and not the word of God daily in their lives, it will create in them a major imbalance. This is imbalance of a heavy emphasis on knowledge of the world around them, but not on the one who created it all, is the enemy’s playground. Dear mother, do you see the importance of feeding your child a steady diet of God’s Word in addition to the worldly knowledge they are taking in?
It is when our children have this “fear of the Lord” that true wisdom is born. Then they are able to apply the knowledge of this world in a way that would benefit and bless mankind. Their worldview would be based on truth and they would be able to discern wicked practices that man calls good. Let us strive to give our children a good foundation of wisdom, which begins with fear of the Lord.
