I was born again in 1978 and turned to the Holy Spirit as my Teacher and Guide. I asked why the Jews denied Jesus as their Savior. Almost immediately in answer to this question, a neighbor came over with a stack of eight books which answered that question for me and opened up the Old Testament and gave me a heart for the Hebrew people to come to know their Messiah. My neighbor did not know of my prayer, all he knew was his wife and I liked to study the Bible together and when numerous copies of various Messianic Hebrew books came across his path he was led to bring a copy of each book home for his wife and I. You see, he was a night manager at a hotel next door to a synagogue in DC. A crate had been dropped off at his place of business for them during the day because no one was available, so he called them to let them know. When they opened the crate and discovered inside there were books written by Jews who had received Jesus as their Savior (who call themselves completed Jews or Messianic Jews-Hebrews), the Rabbi's refused them and asked my neighbor to dispose of them however he choses. His wife and I were two of those blessed to receive them.
This unfolding of my life opened a door which has kept God's chosen people on my heart and has given me much understanding and insight into the prophecies and feasts initially recorded in the Old Testament which were fulfilled by Jesus as recorded in the new.
It gave me a fresh love for Scripture and taught me to look for the hidden meanings of the spiritual symbolism hidden in scripture. I was moved on many occasions while studying to also look up the original Hebrew meaning of words which really helped me to understand a deeper meaning, such as some of the names of each tribe that the Hebrew people fought against was usually an attitude, such as Amalek is equivalent to the word doubt.
