The Fear Pandemic
This is the most chaotic journey we have all had to travel! That's a given! but as chaotic as it has been ....nothing screams "Jesus," like this!
And so many more ugly ingredients thrown into the pot creating a greater fear for even those who say they know God!
Imagine that? Fear?!
What is fear?
Well, if we are going to go out on a limb we can actually steal some solid information from good old Mr. Webster and say that "fear" has a lot of negativity attached to it!
Fear - (noun)
an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
Similar words just to mention more than a few, we find the following.......
Dismay ....which in (Isaiah 41:10) it's clear that God comforts us into staying clear of fear and worry. (So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand because He knew first hand that this world would be leaving us with many more words and descriptions that can be used to bring us down at one time or another. Distress, anxiety, worry, uneasiness, nervousness, unrest, doubt and Suspicion.
As we continue to dissect "fear" let us look a little deeper and find more into the opposite of our subject......
Calmness and confidence...so peaceful. Now those are words to live by.
Then we look into the word in (verb) form and find this......
Be afraid of (someone or something) as likely to be dangerous, painful, or threatening, be fearful of, be scared of, dread, live in fear of, go in terror of, be terrified of, tremble before, be anxious about, worry about, panic about, have a phobia about, and have a horror of.
This alone is some pretty scary stuff.
Fear is no joke as I go deeper into my investigation.
I have seen a lot happen in the midst of a "fear" attack and mind you it's some pretty negative seriousness. All in all, it is a killer response to many stories and testimonies.
I have heard 911 calls that reveal an uglier side to "fear" that would leave the bravest of us caged up never wanting to socialize normally again.
And without bragging, or boasting, I have gone through my own face to face encounter with "fear" and it was no laughing matter. In fact, far from displaying a smile on my face, one could rather leave me a bucket for the gallons of tears and screaming I did trying to remove its sting from my skin.
Yes, "fear" is nothing that one desiring a happy, joyful and successful life would want near to them. However, most of the people who have been attacked by fear had not even realized that "fear" can be conquered and for good.
God teaches us throughout scripture that we are highly, not just protected....but highly protected on our walk through this earth and that if we are touched by "fear" our greatest weapon against it is, God Himself.
Investigating more into similar words, let's begin with "cower."
Cower before - and when I look at this I cannot help but think that "fear" really knows how to make us smaller than we were created to be.
Using even greater words to break us....terror, fearfulness, alarm, panic, dread and horror.
For the director of music, of the Sons of Korah, according to Alamoth, a song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
The reality is that there will be difficult times but God promises to be our refuge and our strength. His promises are real and faithful, so with that being addressed, we could take that and run with it or we could look at fear and hope that somehow it would just go away. That is probably the worst you could do because looking into scripture we can definitely see that as long as we stay clear of God's word, fear is here to stay. Perhaps this is why we need to stay under God's umbrella because there is no safer place and fear doesn't play well with faith.
God teaches us that faith is a very powerful tool.
He was firm in assuring us that faith and fear cannot exist together and when we dig deeper we find that faith is described in (Hebrews 11:1) as being "certain of what we do not see."
It is an absolute belief that God is constantly working behind the scenes in every area of our lives, even when there is no tangible evidence to support that fact, we must know that God is working and not just sitting on His throne. As the King of Kings, the Creator of all living things, The Great I Am and so much more, we have to believe that He is so much bigger than anything we could ever face.
We are extremely blessed because we are not just people who have been born to exist. We are children of the most high, Royal blood, Heir to a mighty throne, one that could never be touched.
So how do we handle times like these?
We go before the Throne trusting not the seat, but the one who occupies it. God, our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Trusting God is difficult only because we cannot physically see Him. While we do know that He is capable, our human flesh tries hard to fight against His supernatural promises. In which, we know as well that nothing can stop God's perfect timing plan and will.
So why are we worried? This pandemic is just another way to administer fear into the people, a way to cause unstableness and a shaken relationship with God.
There's a reason why Jesus calls us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts....
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths.”(Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV)
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4, ESV)
“The fear of man lays a snare but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.” (Proverbs 29:25, ESV)
In the scriptures that you just read, you'll notice that "fear" is being cast out. In so many words God is assuring us that we can eliminate fear, but most importantly that He is by our side and that He will never leave.
But out of the many scripture left for us to study and soak in....the following scripture is the most powerful......
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17, ESV)
Just look at those words. So incredibly rich and filled with such a powerful message and command. If you don't discover your freedom from fear right then and there, then you're needing a definite recharge on faith. Jesus wasn't joking when He called us to trust in God and being that He was speaking first hand....I'm sure He knew.
While there are many little hidden gems in that message, there is one that captivates me every time....
In that scripture you can see that God's promise of no weapons being formed isn't the actual promise, but rather this......
God doesn't promise that weapons "won't" be formed at all, but that weapons "formed" will not prosper! God never promised that "weapons" wouldn’t come at you! He only promised that they wouldn’t prosper.
Weapons will form, but they will not prosper!
So why do we worry?
If God said it, then it must be true!!!
Today, walk like a lion and know that the lioness is protecting her cubs. God is like that lioness or like the father lion of that pride. He is protecting His children like a good father would. His love is unconditional and powerful. Nothing can withstand mighty hands or His wrath.
You are more than human...you carry royal blood and the virus that is instilling fear into millions doesn't come close to the powerful blood we have access to every single day.
Jesus is God. Believe and know that we have nothing to fear!
