Growing In Faith
So, how do we go about experiencing God and soaking in everything He has for us? The most important source of experiencing God is found in His Word, the Bible. We need to read it, study it and apply it to our lives. We need to memorize key verses that will help us stay focused on the things God wants us to do in His world. We have to soak our minds in His Word and pull everything from it we can.
One of the ways that we can incorporate God’s Word into our lives is through soak, sow and flow. We soak our minds in the truths of scripture, which allows us to sow them into our circumstances (daily) and have the Holy Spirit flow through them. In order to experience this we need to memorize and meditate on scripture that will guide our thinking on a daily basis. We want to read and soak in God’s Word, live it and then let God perform His will through us. The goal here is to have the Word of God personally operating in our everyday lives. The more we soak in God's Word, the stronger and more effective we will be at battling everything the enemy tries to throw at us. Going back to the cup of tea analogy: the longer the tea bag soaks in the water the more the water takes on the same characteristics of the tea bag: in color and in taste. Just so with us. As we soak in God's Word it becomes part of us and we take on the characteristics of a true disciple of Christ; in our thoughts, words, and actions. Soaking in God's Word means we are welcoming Him and His Holy Spirit to speak to us...to transform and renew our minds. (Romans 12:2)
Also, by intentionally saturating our hearts and our minds with scripture, we will be better prepared to share God’s love and truth with others during our everyday activities. Leading by example, we can equip and encourage others according to the Word of God. As God’s words flow naturally from our hearts and out of our mouths, we can leave a strong legacy of faith to be passed down from generation to generation.
The living, powerful Word of God transforms our attitudes and our thinking, if we soak our minds in it. When we memorize and meditate on key verses, soaking our minds in them, the transforming power of God’s Word changes how we think, feel and act. There is no way for one to be an effective Christian without knowing the Word of God.
Soak your heart and mind in God’s Word every day and you will experience the truth of Christ, the power of God and understanding that will help you know what that means for you in your everyday life.
