Even though I may have many come and say to me, “Well, no…I do not want to agree with it, and I truly do not want it to happen.” I still prefer to tell you, my friends, trials from the Lord are good as long as you recognize they are from God.
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4, ESV)
Notice that the enemy throws “temptation” against you, but God sends you trials. They have a fundamental difference as one leads to emptiness and one leads to fullness. The end is either death or life. Watch and recognize, learn and grow, do not give credit to the enemy by mistaking the trials as temptations or an attack from the enemy. Do not let your soul be downcast with self-pity, nor give in to fear, or stand on your own strength with your own reasoning in mind to fight against God’s lesson in the path of your life. Listen, brothers and sisters in Christ…
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10, ESV)
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7, ESV)
“For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.” (Galatians 3:26, ESV)
“And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” (Romans 8:17, ESV)
If we know Christ is our Lord and Savior and we know what it means, then you should know that if God stands with us, no one can stand against us. (Romans 8:31) The enemy may be a roaring lion prowling around and looking for someone to devour, (1 Peter 5:8) but he has no power over those who stand with God! However, we are co-heirs of Jesus, the Father will discipline those who are His sons and daughters, and He who is the Gardener will prune the branches (we are the branches connected with Jesus, the Vine). (Proverbs 3:12, John 15:1-8) Trials or tests are a tool God uses to prepare us, to mold us, and to refine us. (Ephesians 2:10, Isaiah 6:48, 1 Peter 1:7) So when trials come, recognize them and give praise to the Lord. (James 1:2, Romans 5:3)
