A word came to me from the Lord while I was praying over my children, “Because of the power of repentance, the enemy has lost his grip on you.” For this reason, I began to stand on behalf of each of my children and repent of their sin, as well as the parts in which I may have failed as their parent. Our Father in heaven and our Lord Jesus are slow to anger and rich in love. He forgives our sins and remembers them no more. He gives grace and mercy and has also instructed us to forgive others seventy times seven times. I have no doubt that all those who have repented have been forgiven. But what then? I seek His knowledge and His heart in this matter, and this is what’s next:
Repentance leads to forgiveness, and once we have been forgiven we will experience God’s redeeming and restoring power and become a new creation, having our freedom in Christ and bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The relationship we have with Christ will become closer and closer. In the same way, it will also increase the distance between us and the enemy, the darkness.
Our sin is like a text message to the devil. It is an open invitation for him and his followers, his demons, to come into our home and join us in our life activities. Repentance takes us through a house cleaning process, requiring them to leave because the Master of the house is coming back.
The enemy will try to remain in your house and your life and will try to make you think they are truly your friends. They will either boost up your pride so that you think you are the master of your house and your life, or try to keep you captive by making you believe that the Master has abandoned you and will no longer come back. As long as you keep on sinning, the enemy will manipulate you like a puppet master holding the strings of the puppet. You will do and act in whatever way he wants.
My dear brothers and sisters, you are not created like a puppet. God created you to have a purpose and a unique one, to rise and shine for His glory. You should not and never should be locked up in a puppet’s suitcase waiting for the enemy to use you in the way he wants. God said let there be light so all creation can live in light and can see. Do not follow the devil who loves darkness and hates the light, but repent and let yourself be free from the hands of the enemy. He wants nothing more than for everyone to live in his prison. But, Jesus wants to set us free to live a life of fullness.
“Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10, ESV)
Let’s receive the power of repentance and live in the fullness of life which only comes from Christ Jesus!
