Occasionally, I still hear some people say, “Look at those who do not know God, who do not believe in Jesus, they are rich and have a good life.” and yet they begin mumbling about their hardship. They praise God’s name when they experience good times and then blame Him when they go through difficult times. I grieve for them because they do not know the true blessings that they already have and I feel angry because in their stubbornness their lips sin against the Holy God.
My dear friends, I do not want you to be one of them. One who does not know what they are talking about, but speaking nonsense about the Almighty. I feel hurt to see that they are blind because of the lies of the enemy, the one who has spoken lies from the beginning (John 8:44).
Don’t you see there are many in the world who do not know God who are suffering? You think being a Christian is the reason for your suffering, but do you not know that we also have hope which is given by the promises of God? The hope that grows up from the Vine, built up from the Foundation of the Solid Rock and secure in the hands of the One who sat down in the right hand of the throne of God – Jesus Christ.
“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” (James 4:14, NIV)
We envy and we become jealous and it brings out hatred and disappointment which then gives birth to sin (James 1: 13-15). That sin leads us along the path of eternal death (Romans 6:20). Is sin worth all this? Are these things, the comforts of this world, worthy for us to throw away the blessings God has for us for eternity? What you think you lack in this world is just a mist and will vanish but what you will miss are the true blessings from above, which Jesus who is faithfully prepared for you and which will last forever.
Now, if you in a difficult place and feeling you can no longer endure the suffering you are experiencing, I want to remind you:
“For in this hope we were saved. Hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” (Romans 8:24-25, NIV)
“No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.” (Psalm 25:3, NIV)
My dear friends, we have this hope which we will never fail to receive, nor will the Lord fail to deliver. Do not give up, do not be discouraged and do not allow the enemy or our own weaknesses tempt you to sin against God. He is Mercy and He is Grace. He is slow to anger and willing to forgive. (Psalm 86:15) Do not misuse the goodness of God as an excuse for us to sin. Instead, know the truth of God and allow His truth to renew our minds. Understand the good, pleasing and perfect will of God, which He has for all of us. (Romans 6, Romans 12:2)
