“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6, NIV)
What does “by the flesh is death, by the Spirit is life” mean? Let me share how I felt when I was living my old life through my flesh and blood (From “my life is His testimony”, Page 40, Coria Brock)…
“A life without a soul – what does that look like? It looks like a zombie - a moving body without spirit and mind.
When someone lives their life as a zombie, what is their purpose? They have a purpose, to eat and drink and move about without understanding, their sustenance and their manner does not matter anymore.”
Was I making myself look prettier? Was I living a life I could be proud of myself? Was I living a life that would make people respect me? Even all answers are yes, a life I lived was just a life which looked alive. However, no one should be okay with just looking alive, we need to be spiritually alive!
I tried very hard to move myself up from a lower level of the world system. I changed my life through many battles and climbed mountains and other mountains. I had things that many may desire to have, I had a life that many will clap their hands and say “you made it, and I am proud of you”. But for me, I never had any peace. I found myself miserable, tired, and eventually hopeless. I can change to adjust again to the changing world and circumstances, but there is no end, till death.
“I was experiencing His amazing grace and sang, ‘I once was lost, but now I am found, was blind, but now I see.’ I am still experiencing it now. I cannot stay away from Him for even one moment, He is the only way to live and He is the light to show the path on which I should go. He is the truth I should know and because of that I no longer had to believe the lies.
I learned that life is a continuing lesson – a lesson to learn to make the right choices. The choice to walk without God or walk with God.” (From “My life is His testimony”, Page 52, Coria Brock)
My dear friends, whether you are a Christian or not, the answer is no different. Read this statement from our Lord God Almighty:
“I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.” (Revelation 3:1-2, NIV)
