Being Fruitful
What do events like the Holocaust, 9/11, and other tragic events which have happened throughout history tell us? In almost every instance you will hear one person say it is justice, while another person say it is evil. Do we see how mankind has lost their moral reference of good and evil? Righteousness and unrighteousness? When everyone is free to create and develop their own moral standards rather than live according to the righteous standards established by the Lord, do you see the danger for the human race and the generations to come?
The Lord gives us the following answer, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight…Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. Therefore the LORD’s anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down. The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.” (Isaiah 5:20-21, 24-25, NIV)
Listen carefully, you may think you are your own and that there is no God. You may believe that He has no authority over you. The reality is that regardless of what you think or believe, He is the God – a God of absolute authority and the only One who is righteous and just. He will judge all nations, and your own life as well. You can’t remove God in His throne, but He can blot you out from His book of life. Yet, don’t you see and hear His mercy and love? Why do you harden your heart and prefer to live in darkness? Has the Word of God not spoken and has He not shown you the Light? Indeed, He has!
Listen to this, whoever doubts, denies, or argues with the Lord God Almighty:
“Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!” (Job 40:1, NIV) “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.” (Job 40:17, NIV)
“Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself? Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his?” (Job 40:8-9, NIV)
Continue to read His word and humble yourselves just like Job, “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.” Read all of the words that He has given us in the Bible, and seek to live in His goodness and righteousness, for your life and also for the next generation.
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.” (Proverbs 4:18-19, NIV)
