When those who do not believe publicly share the reason they do not believe and therefore deny the truth, where are the voices of those who do believe – the followers of Jesus? While we see hatred, anger, insults, and doubt about Jesus everywhere, why it is that we don’t see the message and action of love, forgiveness, encouragement, and of faith in the name of Christ Jesus? Am I trying to rally you to get you to go protest, to try to compete with those who do no believe, or to join in a debate? Not at all, my dear brothers and sisters. I do not take it lightly when the word of God tells us, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18, NIV) What I desire to remind of are these words which were to the disciples by Jesus Himself, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." (Luke 19:40, NIV)
“Jesus asked, ‘were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?’” (Luke 17:17, NIV) And He is still asking today, “Were not many cleansed and rescued and witnessed My love for them, and overcome the troubles of the world? Where are the other testimonies of My name, and for the glory of My Father?” Do they not hear that, “They triumphed over him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”? Or because they love their lives so much that they were afraid to die by proclaiming the victory of Jesus? (Revelation 12:11) Would anyone be willing to give up their desire, walk out of their comfort zone, and die to their own flesh? To take up their cross and follow Jesus who does only what His Father does? To love to the point to obey to death just as Jesus did (Matthew 16:24, John 5:19, Philippians 2:8)? Maybe I do not understand your situation enough to ask you all these questions…but by the way…this is not me asking, these questions are from the Bible – the Word of God Himself.
God the Most High King says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36, NIV) How can we spread His message of love, of forgiveness, of encouragement, and of faith in the name of Christ Jesus? Through both our words and our actions.
Our neighbors need to know Jesus, our co-worker need to hear the truth, our friends need to experience the love of God, our enemies need to understand forgiveness, and the world needs the salvation of Christ. If we are willing to step out for those who are in need, pray for them, care for them, and share one another’s burdens, then the message of God’s love will be loudly present. Everywhere we go and everything we do, even a post on social media, can bring a message for the name of Jesus.
These are some lyrics from a song that I really like to sing…
I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief…
Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)…
(Bethel Music - Raise a hallelujah)
Are we willing to testify the name of Jesus? Are we willing to speak a little louder than the unbelief that others may hear? Are we willing to overcome evil with good, hatred with love, and show the hope of what we believe in to those who do not believe? We can no longer keep silent! We must let our love for Jesus speak louder and louder so that everyone can hear our praises roar!
